‘SPOONY’ SET TO SIT OUT ACCIES MATCH

-

DAVID Wotherspoon, who won his first international cap for Canada against New Zealand in Spain on Saturday, will miss out on S t J o h n s t o n e ’s h o m e Premiership game against Hamilton tomorrow night.

The former Hibs midfield player is serving a onematch ban.

H ow ev e r, central defender Jason Kerr i s over a one-match ban and returns to the squad after playing for Scotland U/21 away to Andorra.

Kyle McClean was in the Northern Ireland U/21 squad which faced Spain in Portadown on Friday and will be back in time for the Accies game.

The match will come too soon for Richard Foster, despite the full-back making a speedy recovery from a hamstring complaint that was expected to rule him out until t he final weekend of the campaign.

And, with Callum Hendry and Brian Easton also close to returning, Saints boss Tommy Wright hopes this term’s injury nightmare might finally be coming to an end.

“One of t he biggest pluses for us over the international break is Richard,” Wright said.

“He’s made unbelievable progress. Hamilton will probably be too early for him but he certainly should be involved come Aberdeen away on Saturday.

“It’s a big boost because we did fear i nitially the earliest he’d be back would be at the end of the season.

“The rest of our casualties are making progress.

“At times this season we’ve had as many as eight first-teamers out injured and it’s probably been the worst year I’ve experienced in terms of injuries since I’ve been here.”
