Team spirit can get Utd crucial wins
WINS have been scarce since the turn of the year but Anthony Ralston believes the spirit in the Dundee United dressingroom can see them get the number needed for a successful climax to the season.
And the teenager, who joined on loan from Celtic last week, believes if the weekend performance against Dunfermline is produced on a regular basis, regular victories have to come.
United head for Inverness tonight having won j ust t wice i n the Championship since the turn of the year, and that weekend draw with the Pars means they’re locked in a battle to secure a play-off place.
Despite their 2018 troubles, however, the 19-year-old has found a Tangerines dressing-room that’s upbeat. It was the first thing that struck him when his made his emergency-loan move.
“One thing I’ve noticed coming in is the boys have a lot of enthusiasm and don’t give up. The manager is enthusiastic and makes sure we push until we can’t do any more,” said Ralston.
“The spirit is very high and, with each game, we will grow in performance. The boys have been brand new and welcomed me in.
“Everyone is up for every game and in training as well, we are working hard. There is a good work ethic and, if that continues for the rest of the season, we can do well.”
Saturday’s 1-1 draw with the Pars was another disappointing result for United at the end of a week that saw them pick up just two points from a run of three consecutive home games.
This week they face difficult away trips to the Highlands tonight and then Greenock on Saturday to face play-off race rivals Morton.
Ralston, though, sees no reason why a haul of six points can’t been taken from those games.
