“Their keeper had a good performanc­e and sometimes that’s the difference. If a keeper’s on his game, even when you break a team down it can be hard.

“Now we look forward to Inverness and getting three points — if we play the way I think we can.

“The aim is to go for wins. As long as we keep going in that manner we can get a few wins and keep moving forward.”

For the U/21 internatio­nal the switch to Tannadice has meant a return to first-team football for the first time since September.

He’s started United’s last couple of games and, with two games a week to come for the rest of his stay, he knows he’s facing a physical challenge. It’s one he’s up for.

“The reason I’m here is games are coming thick and fast. I came here to get game time and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

“Hopefully, I can continue until the end of the season and it will set me up nicely for when I go back to Celtic for pre-season.

“Inverness are a good team but I’m sure all the boys here have every confidence going into the game.”

Used at right-back on his debut against Queen of the South, Ralston was moved forward to the right side of midfield at the weekend and he admits he’s comfortabl­e in both roles.

“I enjoy the attacking side of the game. It’s a hard shift but it’s a task I want because it’s good for the fitness and I want to be up there.”
