Overnight closures
Major work next month on busy Dundee road
MAJOR roadworks are set to take place on a busy route through Dundee.
Sections of Arbroath Road will be shut overnight for five weeks while the work is carried out by BEAR Scotland.
Carriageway resurfacing and lining will start on April 15 and all traffic will be limited from 7pm through to 6am.
The A92 at Arbroath Road will be closed at its approach and exit at Balgillo Roundabout eastbound.
The approach and exit at Balgillo Roundabout westbound, the exit from Panmurefield Roundabout westbound and the approach from Ethiebeaton Roundabout both eastbound and westbound will be closed.
It will then be closed again at all Balgillo Roundabout areas, at its approach and exit at Panmurefield Roundabout westbound, at all Panmurefield Roundabout areas and finally, at all Ethiebeaton Roundabout areas.
Pedestrian and vehicle access to properties will be in place where possible.
There will be only one closure at any time and diversions will be in place.
Resident Andy Carmichael, 47, who has lived in the area for almost 30 years, said: “I didn’t think the road needed done.
“I think there are other roads that money could be spent on. There are no potholes — the road doesn’t look bad.”
Fellow resident Elizabeth Troup added: “Five weeks is a long time. If they do it at that time of night, then it will be fine.”
Broughty Ferry councillor Philip Scott said: “I understand the works include road safety improvements, such as providing anti-skid surfaces at various sections of the road.
“The A92 is a very busy route and it is important it is maintained in a satisfactory and safe condition.
“The works are timed to be carried out overnight, which should lessen the impact on those who need to use the road.
“There’s no doubt some inconvenience will be caused and I would encourage BEAR Scotland, which is responsible for the road, to do all it can to keep the disruption to a minimum.”
