Neve goes nap for deadly Dryburgh

DRYBURGH Girls U/17s produced a scintillat­ing second-half performanc­e to run out 7-0 winners away to Dunfermlin­e Athletic.

The girls went in at the break 1-0 up, an Ellie Cook bullet header counting.

The first half had been a close encounter with Dryburgh edging it on chances.

That, however, changed in the second half.

Dryburgh really took the game by the scruff of the neck.

The girls created lots of chances in front of goal and striker Neve Guthrie was in absolutely lethal form.

Player-of-the-Match Neve bagged five secondhalf goals and also saw her strike partner Nyla Murphy net one i n a fantastic win.

The girls played some lovely passing football with the whole team contributi­ng to seal a superb 7-0 victory i n their first league match.

DRYBURGH U/12s lost out 6-1 to an older, experience­d Gartcairn U/13s side in the Scottish Cup.

’Burgh more than matched their opponents in the first half going in 0-0 at the break.

In the second 45, it was a case of Gartcairn taking their chances and Dryburgh tiring slightly.

There were magnificen­t showings from the Dryburgh girls who will have learnt a lot from the match.

Mariama Bayo was the Dryburgh scorer.

DRYBURGH U/13s made it through to the next round of the Scottish Cup after an epic 5-3 victory against Ellon Meadows at Lochee Park.

Every one of the 13s squad played a massive part in what was a very good win.

After going 3-2 down in the second half, the team rallied together and fought hard for their deserved success.

Scorers were Teighan Milne (2), Kiara Moran, Olivia Hurrell and Mollie Howett.

DRYBURGH 15s played extremely well to record a 9-0 league success at home against Montrose.

Coaches Kirsty Keith and Steve Beattie were pleased with the girls’ performanc­e and their use of the width of the park.

The coaches were also delighted to get a clean sheet for goalkeeper Sarah McIntosh and her defence.

The goals were spread around with Deon Hamilton, Deryn Turner, Hannah Marsh, Belle Thomson, Natasha Keir, Marcy Docherty, Morgan Airlie and Kerris Harris all getting their names on the scoresheet.
