Fed gaffer hopes to keep run going

- BY JUNICUS

NEW Broughty Athletic manager Jamie McCunnie is looking to keep his good start going with another three Super League points at home to Hill of Beath tomorrow.

McCunnie was delighted with the 2-0 win at Newtongrange last week and summed up his thoughts on the victory and the start he has made.

He said: “I was really happy with the result and I thought we fully deserved the three points.

“The lads deserve full credit for the way they approached the game and three wins out of four is a good statistic and gives us something to build on for the rest of the season.

“We’ve not played Hill of Beath this season but games against them are usually tough and we will again have to be at our best to beat them.”

The Fed prepared for the visit of the Haws with a midweek friendly against Montrose FC.

Although they lost 3-1, McCunnie felt it was a worthwhile exercise as it gave some game time to players returning from injury.

Jeanfield’s win over Penicuik last week was bad news for Carnoustie, who are back in the bottom three after the Perth side’s win.

The Gowfers face Kennoway at Laing Park tomorrow and, having already drawn with them when they met in Fife, will be out to go one better at home.

The only absentee from Alan McSkimming’s pool is Luke McGeehan.

After last week’s terrific win to topple Penicuik from the top of the table, Jeanfield stick with the same squad of 18 for their trip to Bo’ness United.

That victory lifted the Perth outfit out of the drop zone and within two points of tomorrow’s hosts.

However, having played two more games, building on last week’s result would further enhance their survival prospects.

Forfar West End head to fifth-placed Dundonald.

Only long-term casualties Craig Bell and Mark Ramsay are missing from a squad numbering 16 or 17.
