Foster returns to boost Saints

-

ST JOHNSTONE head for Aberdeen tomorrow fresh from their 1-0 win at home to Hamilton on Wednesday.

Dons No 2,Tony Docherty, saw Saints in action against the New Douglas Park side so has a good idea what to expect.

The McDiarmid Park men have midfielder David Wotherspoon available following a ban but Zander Clark will not be able to take on his substitute goalkeeping position as he has been suspended for two games. Mark Hurst will replace him on the bench.

Richard Foster is also in the squad, having made a remarkable recovery from the hamstring i njury he sustained in the away draw against Celtic on February 18.

Saints have no fresh injuries from the Hamilton game. Manager Tommy Wright commented: “There were a f ew bumps and bruises but nothing to give us any cause for concern.”

Tommy went on to say it’s a “pleasant surprise” to have Richard back so quickly. He likened t he former Aberdeen, Rangers and Bristol City full-back to Steven Anderson, adding: “Steven is another one who seems t o defy medical science. If you’re looking at a six week lay-off he’s back in three.”

Saints haven’t done anything strenuous since the Hamilton game with the focus more on discussing plans for the Aberdeen fixture.

T h e Pe r t h cl u b a r e unbeaten in their last three games, the Hamilton success coming after a 4-0 away win against Dundee and a 1-1 home divide against Hibs.

Tommy is looking to keep the run going against the Dons, and added: “We’ve had some poor defeats with two of our worst coming against Aberdeen up there and at McDiarmid Park. We want to put an end to that.”
