Deasley’s double delight for Lochee
LOCHEE United’s impressive 3-1 win over Broxburn ended the Lothian side’s 14-game unbeaten run.
Early on, home keeper Mark Fotheringham was forced into fine saves from Kieran Anderson and Alex Murray.
The Bluebells replied with the opening goal in 15 minutes with the unmarked Grant Lawson heading home from a Stephen McNally cross.
Broxburn looked dangerous, however, and drew level just on half-time when Scott Richards swept home.
The visitors started the second half on the front foot but it was Lochee who edged ahead on the hour mark when a Lawson cross was knocked on by Connor Birse to substitute Bryan Deasley and he fired a low shot into the bottom corner from 10 yards.
Birse missed a great chance to wrap up the points but made amends with a minute to go when his pin-point cross found the head of Deasley, who nodded home to give the Bluebells an impressive victory.
Meanwhile, Broughty Athletic and Hill of Beath were involved in a six-goal thriller at Whitton Park.
The hosts got off to a bad start when they conceded a penalty in eight minutes which was converted to put the Haws in front.
The equaliser came in 21 minutes with Derryn Kesson ending a fine move by curling the ball into the far corner of the net.
Then, in 34 minutes, the Fed took the lead when Greig McNaughton flicked home following a corner.
It got even better for the hosts when Kevin Milne added a third in 70 minutes.
However, the Haws pulled one back in 80 minutes then, deep into stoppage time, they were awarded a second penalty which was slammed home to earn them what had seemed an unlikely point.
Jeanfield were well beaten at Bo’ness, going down 5-1.
Trailing to an Alvin Scott counter of a hard-fought first 45 minutes, Swifts went two behind two minutes after the restart when Stewart Hunter was on target.
Two more from Scott saw him complete his hat-trick before Rhys Davis pulled one back from a penalty with Marty Wright adding a late fifth goal for the hosts.
