DC late show while Jarrett hits seven

-

DC ATHLETIC remain rooted to the bottom of the DSMFL Premier Division.

However, they booked their place in the Consolation Cup Final in memory of George McArthur with a hardfought 5-2 win over Stobswell.

The game had been tight at 2-1 at the break but Stobbie being reduced to 10 men did their cause little favours.

They managed to get back into it to make it 2-2 but a late flurry from DC, as their opponents tired, saw them score three in the last 10 minutes.

FC Boukir will play Fintry Athletic i n the other semi-final, having secured their spot with a 14-2 hammering of The Beat.

Allan Jarrett was in fine scoring form, wading in with seven.

In t he Doc Ferry’s Premier Division, league places from third to ninth are separated by only two points with DUSC pulling themselves into that mix in eighth with a l astminute goal against Fintry Athletic to secure a 2-1 win.

A missed penalty in the last five minutes for Fintry proved costly as they failed to make up ground on Hilltown and Doc’s, who were in cup action.

That effectively makes it a two-horse race for the league title.

Hilltown are clear by a point but Doc’s have a game in hand.

Riverside CSC and Park Tool shared the points in a 1-1 draw to remain on 17 points each.

DUMS’ 3-2 win over Dryburgh takes them onto 18 points, seven off top spot.

The victory opened up a seven-point gap between Dryburgh and four teams above them for the second relegation slot.

Bank Street Athletic maintained their eightpoint lead at the top of the Trident Trophies Second Division with a 3-1 win over the much-improved Sidlaw Albion.

Three or four wins in their remaining six games should seal promotion with four teams going up at the end of the season.

Cleppy Social remain in second spot after a 4-1 win over Kelso.

Dundee City have games in hand on the teams above them.

Their 3-1 win over Occidental keeps them in the chase for promotion. If they win their games in hand they could go top.

At the other end of the table, Fife Thistle’s 1-0 win over Clark’s saw them swap places at the bottom of the league.

This weekend sees the finalists decided in the divisional cups.

In the Premier’s Ross Kirk Memorial Trophy, Park Tool await the winners of the semi-final clash between Hilltown Hotspurs and Fintry Athletic.

St James are already safely through to the final of the Balgay Bar First Division Cup and will play the winner of the Club 83 v Ferry Mechanics clash t his weekend.
