Porsche Centre set for launch

-

ONE of the motor industry’s biggest names will launch its new £5 million showroom in Perth this month.

The new Porsche Centre has been built at Broxden, on the edge of the city.

Dealership Peter Vardy lodged proposals for the outlet last year, only days after opening a £7m venture in Dundee.

Developers say the centre will bring in customers from around the country, generating more t han £20m for the local economy.

Peter Vardy says the outlet has created about 30 full-time equivalent posts.

There are only three other Porsche Centres in Scotland.

A one-and-a-half acre plot near t he Broxden roundabout has been transformed for the new venture, which was granted planning consent from Perth and Kinross Council in July.

In his report, planning officer John Williamson gave his backing to the project despite the land being zoned for offices in the l ocal development plan.
