Steffi sets Dryburgh on road to national semis

-

A FANTASTIC 3-0 win against Airdrie Ladies has earned Dryburgh Ladies an SWF League Cup semi-final place in their first season.

Dryburgh’s prolific striker Steffi Simson notched two first-half goals to give the Dundee side a 2-0 half-time lead.

Steffi’s first was a clinical finish at the back post, while her second was a clever header, flicked over the Airdrie goalkeeper.

Dryburgh weathered some second half Airdrie pressure and had keeper Rio Mitchell to thank for a couple of great saves. She was named Player of the Match,

Dryburgh were dangerous on the counter-attack, though, and they sealed the win through Hope Ramage.

The central midfielder ran tirelessly and was rewarded with 10 minutes left. She ghosted in at the front post to slide the ball under the keeper to give Dryburgh their three-goal cushion. DRYBURGH U/12s won 1-0 over Kirrie U/13s, Ellie Clark scoring. DRYBURGH are still looking for players at U/9 and U/11 level. Contact dryburghgirls@gmail.com
