ROUND-UP DDYFA double blow

Two key personnel to step down at end of the season

- BY GRAEME FINNAN

Match secretary John Manzie and league secretary Fiona Thomson have announced they will stand down at the end of the current campaign — the duo having served around 15 years with the DDYFA.

Association president Jim Falconer admitted losing the pair is a setback but has urged others to put their names forward as possible replacements.

“Both John and Fiona have done a tremendous job over the years and there is no doubt they will be a big loss to the association,” said Falconer.

“As well as doing a professional job, they have become close friends to all on the committee and they will be severely missed.

“However, we have to respect their decision and must now look to fill the vacant posts.

“Due to the size and complexity of the job, we will be splitting the match secretary role into two jobs.

“Successful candidates will be given training and advice from both John and Fiona.

“These are big jobs but they are vital to the running of our organisation and I would urge people to step forward.

“The DDYFA has, in general, an ageing committee and I’d personally like to see some young blood get involved to bring in fresh ideas on how we move forward.”

Anyone interested in putting their name forward should contact Jim Falconer on 01241 828970 or 07512 766330 or by emailing jamesfalconer@ btinternet.com

THE Dundee and District Youth Football Association has been rocked by a double blow, with two long-standing executive committee members set to quit.
