Boss Archibald challenges Thistle to show desire

-

PARTICK Thistle manager Alan Archibald has told his players to show desire to get off the foot of the table following their thrashing by Ross County.

Thistle slumped below County after a 4-0 defeat against their Premiership relegation rivals in Dingwall.

The Jags host Kilmarnock on Saturday in the final game before the league splits in two.

And Archibald has warned his players they must show more fight at their own ground.

“They have got to have belief, they have got to want it for each other,” he said.

“We said that, there has got to be a desire and a hunger.

“It was about who wanted it more, and I thought County did. That’s the way it looked.

“They were up to most second balls before us, which was a big, big disappointment.”

FORMER Manchester United midfielder Chris Eagles has left Ross County.

The 32-year-old made nine appearances after being reunited with his f ormer Burnley and Bolton manager, Owen Coyle, in November.

Eagles was absent with a groin problem when Coyle quit the club and his last game proved to be a 4-2 defeat by Aberdeen on January 31.

A club statement read: “Ross County Football Club can confirm that Chris Eagles has left the club by mutual consent.

“Chris has decided to leave the club to capitalise on new career opportunities. We wish him all the best in his future career.”
