Swiss end Scots’ clean record

LARA Dickenmann scored the only goal of t he game as Switzerland maintained their winning record i n Women’s World Cup qualifying with a 1-0 victory over Scotland.

The two teams went into the game boasting 100% records in qualifying for the tournament in France next year, but it was Shelley Kerr’s (above) side who suffered a setback.

Swiss captain Dickenmann took advantag e of some uncertain defending by driving at the back four from deep, firing a l ow shot through a mass of bodies and into the bottom corner beyond Lee Alexander in goal.

She almost added a second moments later, drawing a fingertip save from Alexander as Scotland slipped to their first defeat of the campaign.

The result sees Switzerland nine points clear at the top of Group B, although the Scots still have two games in hand.
