Extended run is pleasing Tanser

-

SCOTT Tanser has had a stellar first season at St Johnstone.

Due to long-term injuries — Brian Easton has been unable to play for chunks of the season — Tanser has enjoyed a good run at left-back.

He’s not the only one in his family happy he’s getting an extended run in the team.

His dad is a Celtic supporter from Glasgow and is delighted his lad is playing in Scotland’s top tier.

Scott was born in Blackpool but plying his trade so far from home is no problem for the former Rochdale and Port Vale player.

He said: “I’ve been away from home with football since I was 16 so coming up to Scotland to live was not a problem. I’m happy up here and settled and would like to extend my career with St Johnstone.

“The benefit of having played a fair bit this season will stand me in good stead for the next campaign.

“It’s been a long season as we started back in July in the Europa League but I have enjoyed it.

“The standard up here is good and I feel I have done well, although, I am very critical of my own performances.”

Tanser is likely to line up against Motherwell at home tomorrow.

However, Saints are still hit by injuries with Blair Alston, Callum Hendry, Stefan Scougall, David McMillan and Easton set to miss out against the ’Well.

Keeper Zander Clark is suspended for the game.
