McCann issues Dee challenge
MANAGER Neil McCann says the draw at Celtic Park shows Dundee are “a good side” and he’s challenged his players to live up to that standard every week — starting tomorrow at Rangers.
The Dark Blues are heading back to Glasgow for the second time in four days to take on an Old Firm side in the final match before the Premiership split.
And Neil has been delighted with what he’s seen already this week, starting with the 1-1 draw at home to Hearts last Sunday followed by the goalless draw at Celtic.
He said: “We’ve been really inconsistent this year.
“I would challenge anybody who’s seen us over the course of the season not to say we’re a good side but that inconsistency brings poor results.
“We cough up cheap goals, we don’t take chances but I’m challenging them to play at that tempo, that level, because we should have won t he game against Hearts and I think we were well worth our point on Wednesday.”
Meanwhile, Dens midfielder Lewis Spence has signed a contract extension with the club.
Signed from Dunfermline in the s u m m e r, the 22-year-old has shown up well in the centre of midfield with his battling and bustling style.
Having signed a one-year deal last summer, Spence will now stay at the club until the summer of 2020.
FORGOTTEN man Randy Wolters has expressed his frustration at his lack of first-team game time but insists he has no problem with manager Neil McCann.
He said: “The feeling that you do not count is frustrating.
“No one knows what I can do in Dundee. Who is that R a n dy Wo l t e rs ? T h ey wonder, and rightly so.
“That hurts.”
