‘Nadia told me she just wanted peace and couldn’t keep fighting any more’

- BY ADAM HILL

“She just couldn’t do it mentally or physically.”

Roxan said the family were “heartbroken” and “shocked” by the sudden nature of Nadia’s death and have launched a fundraiser to pay for her funeral.

She said: “Cherish the moments you have as a mum because one day you might not get the chance to.

“I never thought in my life I would go before my daughter and the sadness and the heartache I feel is too much to deal with.

“My daughter struggled with life and coming to terms with being diabetic was the hardest thing she had to deal with.

“I know she will be pain-free now and there won’t be any more suffering for her to endure.

“I know for sure she will be walking over there and be happy and free.

“She won’t have any more worries — we love her so much.”

Nadia is survived by Roxan, sister Naomi and brothers Jordan, Eddie and Amrit.

The tragedy is one of a number that Roxan and her family have had to cope with.

Amrit suffered brain damage in 2002 when he stopped breathing aged just five days in a “near-miss cot death”.

Doctors managed to save his life but he suffered irreparable damage due to lack of oxygen.

In 2005, Naomi and her brother Jordan, then aged 9 and 10 respectively, both suffered serious injuries in a car crash.

Four years ago, Nadia suffered the spinal injuries which left her wheelchair-bound and requiring hospital treatment for nearly a year.

Then in 2015, Naomi faced months of recovery after she was knocked down by a hit and run driver — leaving the then 19-yearold in a coma.

Roxan added: “We have been through so much — it has been one thing after another.

“There have been times I’ve thought ‘when is it going to end’ but then I get the strength to carry on.

“What would the kids do if I wasn’t here?”
