Winter strike good news for Broughty

- BY JUNICUS

BROUGHTY Athletic’s fine run under manager Jamie McCunnie continued when they picked up another three Super League points in a five-goal thriller at Camelon.

The Fed dominated the early possession and missed a number of chances.

That was to prove costly when Camelon took the lead in 34 minutes when Alan Sneddon, with his 14th goal of the season, swept home following a corner.

Broughty hit back seven minutes later with a deserved equaliser, Jordan Garden converting a penalty after Derryn Kesson was pulled down in the box.

The Fed continued to create most of the chances and they took the lead in 70 minutes when a long ball was swept into the net by Kevin Milne.

Camelon quickly replied when Greg Skinner headed in the equaliser but justice was done when, 60 seconds later, a Milne shot hit the post but Jamie Winter was on hand to knock in the rebound,

Carnoustie are in a spot of bother after losing a crucial relegation clash with Newtongrange.

The Gowfers currently sit in the play-off position in the bottom three and Saturday’s 2-0 defeat will do little for their morale.

Lochee United lost 1-0 to Dundonald Bluebell at Moorside Park.

Lochee were denied a stonewall penalty early in the second half when Scott McComiskie was wiped out by Ross Drummond in the box.

With 15 minutes left, Dundonald scored the only goal of the game when Lochee failed to clear a corner kick and the ball was smashed home past a helpless Mark Fotheringham by Calum Smith.

Forfar West End came from behind to beat Bo’ness 2-1.

Will Snowdon gave Bo’ness an early lead but Marc Percy levelled in the second half. Then, in a stormy finish, West End’s Mark McDonald and Bo’ness’ David Gray were sent off before Matty Reynolds scored the hosts’ winner with two minutes to go.

Jeanfield shocked Linlithgow by taking a 15th-minute lead through Rhys Davies. However, slack defending allowed the hosts to net twice in the final 20 minutes.
