Couple raise £2,000 for neonatal unit as thanks for saving the life of little Harrison

-

A DUNDEE couple have presented £2,000 to the neonatal unit at Ninewells as a thank you for saving their baby son’s life.

Cammy Campbell and Laurie Field welcomed Harrison six weeks early on December 5.

Harrison spent 19 days in hospital because his lungs had not developed properly.

He was finally allowed home to spend Christmas with his mum and dad and fouryear-old brother Ruairaidh.

Cammy and Laurie organised a race night which was held at Lochee’s Dee Club.

The evening raised the grand total of £2,000 and the family presented the cheque to the ward staff.

Cammy said: “With the money we raised, the unit is going to be able to buy heated mattresses which will allow more open access for parents whose babies are being treated in incubators.

“We are really happy with how the fundraiser went.

“A lot of great prizes

were donated including restaurant vouchers, a teeth-whitening voucher worth £100 and a tattoo voucher, plus lots more.

“Without all of that we would have been stuck.

“There was a great turnout and we can’t thank everyone enough for all the prizes that were donated.

“The total money raised was amazing.”

The couple also donated a tasty fruit platter to the ward which was made by Morgan Dailly at Full of Zing.

Harrison is now four months old and is doing well at home with his family.
