Tremendous fightback by Tool

-

IN the three games in the Doc Ferry’s Premier Division, it was honours even in all the clashes.

Doc’s Hibernia blew a three-goal lead against Park Tool, who mounted a fightback in the second half to tie the match 3-3.

DC Athletic remain on bottom spot after a 2-2 draw against third-placed Hawkhill, though they pulled level on points with Dryburgh who have a game in hand.

Both are seven points adrift of safety with the seven teams above them separated by only three points in the tightest the division has been for many years.

FC Kettledrum and Riverside CSC shared the points in a scrappy battle, tying 1-1 at full-time to remain in the chase for third.

In the Balgay Bar First Division, undefeated St James Athletic were made to work to the end for their three points against an under-strength Cannon Fodder.

The latter were forced to play a back four with a combined age of 152. This was due to i njuries. Stewart Hastie was the youngster, aged 24.

Despite their age, and some fine goalkeeping from Will O’Neill, the defence held solid for a time after Harry Craic levelled for Fodder.

An early goal in the second half looked like the floodgates would open for St James but they were grateful to hear the final whistle with Fodder’s James Gallacher hitting the underside of the bar with a free-kick in the final seconds of the game.

St James maintained their perfect record with a 2-1 win.

In a relegation battle, The Beat recorded a 5-0 win over DK Raiders to pull within a point of them with just four matches each left to play.

One or the other will go down, though Monifieth Hurricanes are only two points clear and could be pulled into that battle to avoid the drop.

Cairdy Thistle now only need two points from their last four matches to be certain of promotion to the Premier Division following their 3-1 win over Stobswell.

They are top of the division but have played three games more than St James and Ferry Mechanics of the chasing pack.

In a day for draws, two of the three matches in the Trident Trophies Second Division saw clubs share the points.

Dundee City will surely see it as t wo points dropped against Fife Thistle in their 2-2 draw.

They failed to make up significant ground on Bank Street Athletic who lead by eight points, though they have played three more games than City.

Kelso and Clark’s FC also ended in a 2-2 score while Occidental dealt Cleppy Social’s promotion and title hopes a blow with a 4-2 win over Cleppy, who remain third.

They will be looking nervously over their shoulders at FC Boukir and Charlie’s Accies who are a point behind with games in hand.
