Dental van visit planned

-

THE Lochee Community Hub will play host to a dental van next week.

Those i n need of the service such as people who may be perhaps homeless, or vulnerable or not in work, who are not registered with a dentist and are not able to go to one will be able to seek treatment.

The van will be situated at the back of the community hub on Thursday from 9am-noon.

Staff at t he Lochee hub are hoping that the van, which has been to the centre in the past, will become a regular fixture once a month so people have a chance to get any treatment they need.

NHS Tayside clinical dental director Morag Curnow said: “The mobile dental van provides treatment t o patients with complex social or health issues with the main focus on adults experiencing homelessness.

“This service i s provided monthly and dates are arranged on a month to month basis.

“The service i s also delivered weekly at The Steeple and Cairn Centre, and monthly at The Signpost Centre in Whitfield.

“Most people in Dundee will be able to have their dental needs met by a high street dentist under NHS terms and conditions.

“Patients with more complex needs will be referred on to Dundee Dental Hospital or NHS Tayside Public Dental Service by their own dentist as and when necessary.”
