Csaba’s focus on win at Glebe Park

- By TOM DUTHIE

CSABA Laszlo is concentrating on nothing other than getting a third Dundee United victory in a row when he takes his team to Brechin tonight.

Once that’s in the bag he’ll look and see if it’s been enough to confirm a play-off place.

If they win and Inverness Caley Thistle don’t take maximum points at Dumbarton, the Tangerines will be top-four finishers for definite.

Csaba, however, will not be paying any attention to what the Highlanders have done until he knows his own team’s result.

“I don’t think about the other games or even the game we have on Saturday, because, for me, it is just about Brechin and I will only think about that,” he said.

“Winning against Brechin is most important. Win against them and you come closer to the play-offs.

“Which position that will be I don’t know, but if we win this one I think the play-offs are realistic.”

And while Darren Dods’ part-timers are already relegated and have not won a league game all season, Csaba is taking nothing for granted.

The recent defeat at Dumbarton and a difficult draw at Glebe Park in November, tell him this game must be approached properly.

“Against Brechin it will be a very tough game. You saw at Dumbarton, they didn’t have anything to lose, they just played football. If you are not concentrated 100% they can surprise you, everybody can.

“If you play against St Mirren or you play against Brechin, for me there is no difference, especially if you play away from home. Brechin are playing for their pride. They know they are relegated, but they have pride.

“For us every game there is pressure and we have to handle that. We have shown against good teams what we can do, but against Dumbarton we did not have the concentration and this is what I want to avoid.”

Paul Quinn has been ruled out of the squad because of illness but left-back Jamie Robson has recovered from a knock picked up in Saturday’s win over Falkirk.

Striker Emil Lyng is also back in training after more problems with the leg injury he suffered in the defeat at Livingston in February.

He is likely to be in the travelling party for tonight, though it could be Saturday’s trip to Queen of the South before he gets the chance of a return to action.
