Go out and savour this game urges Brechin boss

-

BRECHIN City may be enduring a miserable winless season but manager Darren Dods has told his players to play with smiles on their faces against visitors Dundee United tonight.

The Glebe Park men have amassed just four points in this campaign and Dods will use the meeting with Csaba Laszlo’s side to highlight that football can deliver peaks and troughs.

Dods said: “Of course our players’ heads have gone down a couple of times but I will remind them that this is a great game to be involved in and one to be enjoyed.

“We are facing the club that won the Scottish Cup just eight years ago and I know how big that was as I played in every round for Dundee United before being injured for the final.”

Dods added: “We have one more home game and that is against Queen of the South and I would not expect them to bring a big travelling support, whereas United will as they are very much in the play-off chase.

“Next season we will not be facing such big names and will be playing in front of crowds of 500-600, so we should go out and savour this game.”

After losing 4-0 to Dunfermline on Saturday, Dods is looking for his players to stand firm in the opening stages as he said: “We made a poor start at Dunfermline and gave away a corner after a minute. “That led to us going behind early. “United have their tails up just now, so to do anything in this game we need to get a foothold.

“We will keep trying to get a break somewhere.”

Paul McLean returns after suspension but Ryan McGeever, Gary Fusco, Craig Storie and Andy Jackson all remain out injured.
