ROUND-UP Final spot is booked

Boukir’s fine cup form intact — and there could be more

-

FC Boukir booked their second cup final place when they saw off Dundee Saturday Morning FA Premier Division opponents Fintry Athletic in the Consolation Cup Final, in memory of George McArthur.

Russell Stewart and Gordon MacDonald were on target in a 2-0 win for the Second Division Carnoustie boys, who are also due to face Bank Street Athletic this Friday in the Trident Trophies Second Division Cup Final.

The win on Saturday eased the pain of them losing a goal in the dying seconds of the league clash against Charlie’s Accies, a game they lost 4-3, having led 3-2 with five minutes to play.

That result was a massive boost for Charlie’s push to be one of the four teams going up from the Second Division.

They did fail to capitalise on that at the weekend when they were held 2-2 by Occidental.

Leading the way are Bank Street Athletic, who saw off Clark’s 4-1. Dundee City lead the chase and, with two games in hand, are five points behind the Bankies.

Cleppy Social have struggled to hold onto leads and, despite leading 3-0 against Dundee City, they lost 5-3.

That followed a 4-2 midweek win for Dundee City, who are making up ground at the top and know the destination of the title is in their own hands.

Sidlaw Albion lost 6-3 to Occidental and went down 2-1 to Fife Thistle B.
