Pars building a head of steam for promotion push

-

NICKY Clark hopes Dunfermline are building momentum just at the right time as they bid to keep their promotion push on track.

The Pars have lost just one of their last 11 games and chalked up a fourth victory in a row with Saturday’s 4-0 hammering of Brechin City.

The Fifers know that one more win, away to Inverness Caley Thistle this weekend, will guarantee them a play-off place.

And striker Clark, who netted two hat-tricks in less than a fortnight last month to strengthen Dunfermline’s top-four claim, reckons the East End Park men are timing their return to top form perfectly.

The former Rangers and Queen of the South front man said: “We’re taking momentum into each game. With wins in football you get that naturally and confidence comes from that.

“It’s a great time to have that if we get ourselves into the play-offs.

“We’ve picked up at a great time in the season and the momentum and the confidence is building nicely.

“We’re not there yet but if we get into the play-offs then we’ll take that into the games and I’m sure that will stand us in good stead.”

Dunfermline look set to face Dundee United or Livingston over two legs in the play-off quarter-final, with the winner then facing the second-placed team for the right to contest the final.

However, with Dumbarton still to face at home on the final day of the season, Clark knows the Fifers must first get themselves into the play-offs before worrying about what will happen should they get there.

Clark added: “We beat Inverness here and there’s no reason why we can’t go up and beat them again.”
