Gowfers and Fed have to settle for point

-

CARNOUSTIE and Broughty Athletic had to settle for draws in the Super League although both will be kicking themselves they didn’t take full points.

It ended goalless at Penicuik but the Gowfers had the best chance when they were awarded a penalty but Sam Simpson’s spot-kick was saved.

Broughty took a first-half lead against Jeanfield through Jordan Garden but he blotted his copybook on the hour mark when he picked up a second yellow card and was sent off.

Swifts made them pay when Daniel Kelly grabbed an equaliser seven minutes later.

Forfar West End led early at Newtongrange with a Jamie Montgomery strike.

But the hosts hit back three times to collect the points.

Downfield picked up three useful Premier League points in a 2-1 win at Bathgate with Dale Davidson scoring twice.

Tayport’s promotion challenge suffered a blow when Whitburn scored a late leveller in a 1-1 draw. Gary Sutherland gave the Fifers a first-half lead but Whitburn equalised with a minute to go.

St Andrews United boss Andy Brown made a decent start to his tenure with his charges returning with a point after a goalless draw at Dunbar.

Marc Young scored the only goal of the game after 71 minutes to give Blackburn United victory over bottom-ofthe-table visitors Kirrie Thistle.

RESULT of the week — DOWNFIELD’S 2-1 win at Bathgate gets the nod.
