Tommy pleased at Jason’s call

-

ST JOHNSTONE manager Tommy Wright is delighted central defender Jason Kerr has again been chosen for the Scotland U/21 squad.

He has been included in the pool for the tournament in Toulon next month.

It takes place from May 26-June 9 and features Scotland, England, Portugal, France, Turkey, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Qatar and China.

The club are waiting to hear if David Wotherspoon will be selected by Canada for their summer World Cup qualifiers.

Tommy said: “I’m happy Jason has been picked and will be delighted if David, too, is chosen.

“It will mean a shorter close season for both of them but being selected to play for your country is a great thing.

“I played for Northern Ireland and it was always a great honour. It’s really the highest honour you can get. It’s always a boost.”

Meanwhile, Brian Easton has undergone groin surgery.

Injuries have plagued him this season and it is hoped he will now be over his problems and ready for next season.

Saints face Motherwell away tomorrow and will have Murray Davidson back from a ban.

Meanwhile, the Perth club have told Keith Watson and Chris Millar they are free to find other clubs.

Millar has made around 300 appearances for Saints with only Steven Anderson, Alan Main, Drew Rutherford, Liam Craig, Charlie McFadyen and Willie Coburn making more.

Greg Hurst, Callum Hendry and Ali McCann have agreed terms to stay at Saints but also going are Danny Jardine, Cammy Thomson, Cammy Lumsden and Jamie Docherty.
