Change coming, but game is first

-

HE admits big changes are on the way at Tannadice but right now Csaba Laszlo’s focus remains on one thing and one thing alone – promotion.

This summer could see a foreign takeover of the Tangerines confirmed, new signings and even a new member of the coaching staff in the shape of Csaba’s long-time No 2, German Werner Burger.

And as the Tele revealed earlier this week, Csaba has been told he is the man to oversee the playing side of the club again next term.

But while he thinks the fans are going to like what they see unfolding, right now he knows what would please them most is victory in tonight’s Premiership quar ter-final play-off second leg against Dunfermline at Tannadice.

And as he tries to turn a goalless first l eg i nto a victory, he insists that’s all he is thinking about.

“This is a very important and difficult game and is all that concerns me at this moment,” he said.

“What I want is for Dundee United to be competitive whatever league they are in but we want to be in the Premiership and we have that chance in the play-offs. If we can get there this time we want to.”

As he looks to set up a semi-final clash with Livingston that would kick off at Tannadice on Monday, Csaba revealed there will be changes from Tuesday’s opening leg.

Craig Slater drops out of the squad because of a virus but Paul McMullan has recovered from a bug that saw him left on the bench for the first game and could start.

Defender Mark Durnan is also back in the squad after recovering from a swollen ankle.

“Ye s , there will be changes, perhaps both because people are ready who were not before and because of what my tactics will be,” added Csaba.

And as for those longerterm plans, the manager has set his sights on getting United back where he feels they should be.

“At the moment we are planning a lot of things, so we will see.

“The board are very focused and working hard on plans for the summer and for next season.

“There will be a lot of changes, we have to move forward. To do that you have to have fresh blood and new i deas, that i s necessary.

“I am committed Dundee United.

“Already in this last six months we have had a lot of changes and I think the club as a whole is moving in a good direction.” to
