CONSIDINE PROUD OF DONS’ ACHIEVEMENT
ABERDEEN defender Andrew Considine took satisfaction in proving the doubters wrong after sealing second place in the Ladbrokes Premiership with his Celtic Park winner.
The Dons held off a challenge from Rangers and Hibernian to claim a fourth consecutive runners-up spot after a summer of transition.
And Considine believes their achievement says a lot about t he squad’s resilience.
“There was a lot of talk at the start of the season about who would finish second, with Rangers bolstering their squad and then with Hibs doing so well during the campaign,” he said.
“People were writing us off but we have just quietly gone about our work. It has maybe not been our most consistent season in terms of performances but we have ground out results.
“There were a l ot of comings and goings at the start of the season, so it was always going to be harder this year. We hung in there and managed to take it to the final game of the season.
“We showed a real togetherness and, thankfully, we got t he result.
“There were some tough periods during the season and we did have some shaky moments.
“The speculation surrounding the manager probably did affect us more than we realised but any time we had a setback we bounced back strongly.”
