Housing proposal scrapped
DEVELOPERS have scrapped controversial plans for new housing near a Blairgowrie care home.
Aberdeen-based Sted Investments wanted to build eight “care cottages” off Golf Course Road, next to Beech Manor.
The scheme, the third attempt to put properties on the one and a half acre site, prompted complaints from neighbours. They said the cottages would lead to an increase in traffic congestion and a loss of parking.
There were also worries care home residents could lose their privacy, while some questioned how the development could offer care services.
Sted Investments has now withdrawn the proposal. It follows criticism by Perth and Kinross Council planning officer Tony Maric, who said he could not support the plan.
More than 30 people had objected t o t he l atest proposals.
No one from Sted Investment was available to discuss the plan, or explain why it was withdrawn.
