Long-term deal for Celts’ Rogic

-

TOM Rogic gave Celtic a William Hill Scottish Cup Final boost by signing a new five-year contract which will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old Australia midfielder j oined from Central Coast Mariners in 2013 and spent time on loan at Melbourne Victoria the following year before returning in the summer of 2014.

Rogic has developed into a key part of Brendan Rodgers’ side and scored the last-gasp winner in last season’s 2-1 Scottish Cup Final win over Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Ahead of this season’s final against Motherwell tomorrow, where victory will secure an unprecedented second successive domestic treble, the silky playmaker ended any speculation over his future when he penned a new deal.

“I feel great t o have signed a new contract,” he said.

“I’m very proud and honoured to be able to commit my future to the club.

“I enjoy playing regular football here. I’m working under a top-class manager and to play my club football here is something that’s very special to me so I couldn’t be happier t o have signed a new contract.

“The support here is very special and sometimes it’s hard to describe. To feel so loved and wanted by the fans i s all a player can really ask for.

“It’s my j ob and t he players’ job to repay that.”
