’WELL CAN TOPPLE HOOPS SAYS GAFFER

-

MOTHERWELL boss Stephen Robinson believes ending Celtic’s doubletreble mission is not impossible.

The Hoops are looking to wrap up a second successive domestic treble by winning t omorrow’s William Hill Scottish Cup Final.

However, Motherwell are eager to make their own mark and emulate t he heroes who last took the trophy back to Lanarkshire in 1991.

The Steelmen l ost to Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Betfred Cup Final back in November.

But after seeing his side push all-conquering Celtic close more than once this term, Robinson is convinced Motherwell can finally prevail at Hampden.

He said: “There are no expectations on us apart from within our dressingroom. Everyone expects Celtic to win but we have different ideas.

“We have created a real belief we can do something special this season.

“I don’t think there’s any point turning up if you don’t believe you can win. We’re certainly not turning up to make up the numbers.

“The belief is not unfounded. We’re constantly l ooking f or footage of teams who have caused t hem problems previously – and a lot of the footage is of us.

“It will be a hard task, we’re playing against a very good Celtic side – but i t ’s c e r t a i n l y n o t a n impossible task.”
