Millar’s events proving popular

-

CHRIS Millar may be leaving after 10 years with St Johnstone but his popularity i s shown by places at his testimonial events being well filled up.

An ‘Off The Ball’ evening with Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan has already been held and next month’s golf day is fully booked up.

The upcoming boxing dinner and Sportsman’s Dinner only have a limited amount of tickets available and the testimonial match at home to Aberdeen on July 9 has attracted big interest.

It could be Aberdeen’s first public outing of the season and, with the Dons in Europa League action soon afterwards, they are set to field a strong squad which will i nclude new signings.

The testimonial committee are searching for a sponsor for the boxing night. Anyone interested should contact matt. wtghenderson@mail.com

Matt Henderson, committee chair, said: “Chris is such a popular player and this i s being emphasised by the amount of interest in his testimonial year.

“He is well respected and there has been a big response to his events, something which has really overwhelmed him.”

Meanwhile, having already secured the signing of wide player Drey Wright from Colchester United, Saints manager Tommy Wright is hoping to add some more new faces to the McDiarmid Park ranks in the next few months.

He said: “I think we’ll be looking at trying to add three or four new players but I think the squad is in good shape just now.

“Of course we want to strengthen the side but I think it’s something we can afford to take our time with.

“We want to make sure that we really do get it absolutely right.”
