East feel fire from Dundee Dragons

-

DUNDEE Dragons Girls 13s recorded a 5-0 home win over Dundee East 13s.

With both joint top of the league going into the game, it was a big match.

Dragons didn’t have to wait long until the first of their goals, Player of the Match Amy Smith netting early on.

Then Elise Salmond picked up on a defensive error from Dundee East and, with some great passing football between Amy Smith and Callie Bowman, Dragons scored again with Bowman taking on a defender and keeper to net.

East responded quickly, taking the play to the Dragons’ end of the park and putting severe pressure on the hosts.

However, a strong strike from Aimee Dolan just missed making it 3-0 as Dragons fought to lengthen their lead.

It was, however, 3-0 when Smith netted her second goal just three minutes before half-time.

Both teams tired from a fast-paced game but still put on a great performance for the crowd.

Dragons went on to score another two goals, with Smith netting her hat-trick in 50 minutes.

Salmond finished off Dragons’ goals three minutes before the final whistle.

Manager Samantha Fyfe said: “I’m really delighted with the girls’ performance.

“They worked hard as a team before and during this game and the result showed that.

“This was a huge game for our girls as we are just off the back of two losses.

“We are there now but we have to work hard to maintain that.

“It’s well done to all the players on the park and thanks to Dave Lord from Dundee East.”
