Jeanfield girls hoping to learn

-

JEANFIELD Swifts U/15 lost 10-2 to Celtic in the League Cup.

The Perth girls will have learned from the experience before the two face each other in the league in Perth again this weekend.

At the start, it looked like being an even tie but Celtic’s game plan of playing a long ball over the top for their speedy striker to run on to wreaked havoc.

After opening the scoring after 12 minutes, the Hoops followed up with a rapid-fire brace.

Chances fell the way of the home side, with Leah Sidey’s effort producing a last-ditch save from the Celtic keeper and Sky Steele going close.

Abbie Ferguson netted for Swifts with a low shot at the near post shortly before half-time.

Another fast start from Celtic saw them score two more within three minutes of the restart.

By then, Swifts had lost one centre back to injury and another was struggling.

Celtic capitalised by putting three up front.

Swifts pulled one back via the penalty spot.

Ferguson was taken out by the Celtic keeper and had over five minutes of attention. Beth Dakers converted the spot-kick.

Eilidh Davies hit the bar as Swifts tried to pull another one back.

However, the visitors added five more goals to run out good winners.
