Doxburghe House garden party open to all

-

DUNDONIANS are invited to a garden party at Roxburghe House next month.

The unit opened its doors four decades ago and now staff are planning to mark the anniversary on Saturday July 7.

The party will give people an opportunity to celebrate what is an important milestone in the history of the palliative care service within NHS Tayside.

Staff are planning a fun-filled afternoon which will include music, home baking, refreshments, raffles and special entertainment for children.

There will also be an opportunity to walk down memory lane with displays featuring many of the previous staff and events that have helped shape the service over the years.

Fiona Barnett, clinical co-ordinator for specialist palliative care services, said: “We are very much looking forward to the anniversary.

“Our staff provide a vital specialist palliative care service to the people of Tayside, providing dedicated support to patients and their families at often very difficult times in their lives.

“Roxburghe House has developed strong links with the local and wider communities over the years and is held in high regard by the public.

“We would also ask people to get in touch if they have any old photographs from the last 40 years which they would be happy to lend to our display, and would be delighted to accept any donations towards our raffle, which can be handed in to reception.”

Roxburghe House is a purpose-built palliative care unit in the grounds of Royal Victoria Hospital.

It offers specialist care to patients with cancer and other illnesses and is staffed by a dedicated multi-professional team providing care in a supportive environment.
