Millionaire drops in

£1m winner revisits store which sold lottery ticket

-

A DUNDEE lottery millionaire is hoping his good luck will rub off on others after revisiting the store where he bought his winning ticket.

Retired l orry driver Raymond Storey, 64, celebrated a National Lottery milestone with the delivery of a gold terminal to Asda on Myrekirk Road.

Raymond was enjoying his breakfast cuppa at home in November 2014 when he decided to quickly check his numbers online after purchasing his ticket at the store – and discovered he had won £1 million.

Returning to the shop, after being able to enjoy a life of leisure with early retirement thanks to his win, Raymond revealed t he limitededition gold playstation to surprised shoppers.

He also gave it his own stamp of approval with a gold handprint and wrote a message of luck to all future players directly on to the terminal.

Raymond said: “Since winning the National Lottery I’ve been able to enjoy my retirement to the fullest.

“I had originally planned to retire in August the following year but, after the win, it was the first and best decision I’ve made.

“I’m hoping that this gold playstation will bring a little bit of extra luck to Dundee so our millionaires club can grow even bigger, allowing more people like me to enjoy a life-changing win.”

Since the first draw on November 19 1994, the National Lottery has created 5,000 millionaires and the last 1,000 have been made in just 29 month – at the rate of more than one every day.

In Raymond’s DD postcode district, 21 millionaires have been created and 208 prizes of £50,000 or more have been paid out to lucky winners.

Denise Callachan, general store manager at Myrekirk Road, said: “We were thrilled when Raymond came back into our store where he bought the ticket that made him a millionaire.

“It’s amazing to think there are now 5,000 lottery millionaires who have all enjoyed that same winning moment which, for many, started in their local shop.

“Hopefully, this gold playstation will mean more people can join the 21 lottery millionaires already made in the DD postcode area.”
