Dishing up 100 free meals

-

A LOCAL restaurant i s marking the end of Ramadan by giving away 100 free meals to vulnerable people across the next four days.

The Chicken Club restaurant in Lochee is offering 25 meals each day for those who need t hem between 10-10.30pm each evening.

Those who wish to claim a free meal need simply walk into the restaurant and say the word “Ramadan” to staff.

The offer runs from tonight until Thursday, and includes a “combo box” of chicken strips and hot wings, fries, a drink and a scoop of ice cream.

Ibrar Ibrahim, owner of the restaurant, said Ramadan was a time of discipline that aimed to promote a greater sense of g enerosity among Muslims – and this inspired him to give away the free meals.

“Because the end of Ramadan i s coming up just now, what I would like to do is give food to those who need it,” he said.

“And this is for anyone – it isn’t just for Muslims.

“It’s a gift from myself to anyone, who can walk in and get the meal.

“It’s for the city – for people who are homeless, or can’t afford t o buy themselves food; anybody and everybody can come in for the free meal.”

It’s not the first time the Chicken Club has given away free meals to those in need – 200 Christmas dinners were provided to the vulnerable and needy during the festive season last year.
