Dundee target Posh defender

-

DUNDEE have reportedly made a bid to sign Peterborough skipper Jack Baldwin.

Aberdeen have already had an offer knocked back by the English League One side and the Dark Blues are believed to have stepped up their chase of the stylish defender.

The 24-year-old was made captain of Posh last summer after signing a two-year contract that runs out next year.

He played 43 times i n 2017/18 and can play in the centre and right side of defence as well as central midfield.

Meanwhile, former Dundee left-back Kevin Holt has j oined Cypriot side Pafos FC.

They finished i n t he bottom half of Cyprus’ top flight under the guidance of former Dundee United and Scotland defender Steven Pressley, who recently signed a new deal himself.

Holt played 113 times for Dundee, scoring eight goals.

TWO Dark Blues were on international duty over the weekend.

Both Craig Wighton and Glen Kamara started for Scotland U/21s and Finland respectively.

Wighton was given the nod by coach Scot Gemmill for his first start i n the Toulon Tournament but couldn’t help the young Scots to a repeat of last year’s third-place finish against Turkey.

He was subbed midway through the second half before Scotland lost out in the penalty shootout to finish fourth overall (see p35 for reaction).

Glen Kamara, meanwhile, featured from the start for Finland as they beat Belarus 2-0 in a friendly in Tampere.

The midfielder impressed for coach Markku Kanerva’s side but was replaced after 54 minutes with the Finns one goal to the good.
