City whisky sold out

-

THE inaugural single malt whisky from a Glasgow distillery has sold out in less than two weeks.

The Glasgow Distillery Company, thought to be the city’s first independent single malt distillery in more than 100 years, released 5,000 bottles of its 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The online ballot opened on May 29 and was sold out on Monday, with purchases limited to a bottle per person to give more people a chance of success.

The release drew interest from around the world, with applications to the ballot coming in from as far afield as Hong Kong, Australia, North America and Japan.
