Awards for volunteers

VOLUNTEERS who run 15 groups on the Leuchars army base were recognised at a special reception and awards evening.

A total of 10 outstanding volunteer contribution awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Robert Balfour, to people from associations including Scouting, Guiding, the armed forces charity SSAFA, and the coworking centre which allows military families to network while running their own businesses.

More than 150 serving and civilian volunteers were involved.

Head of establishment, Lt Col Dom Coombes, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to thank the unsung heroes who do so much for the community and give back something to those who give so generously.”
