Events should be publicised

-

I WAS passing the former St Vincent’s Primary School on Saturday and I noticed it was having its community open morning, so I informed family members who had attended the school and we all went to have a look around.

It wasn’t until I was talking to the people there that I discovered my old school, the former St Luke’s and St Matthew’s Primary School, had its community open morning the previous Saturday and I had missed it.

I was devastated by this, as I was really wanting to have one last look around the school which holds so many good memories for me, before it closes for good.

I then discovered most people at St Vincent’s had found out about the dates of the open mornings by word of mouth, as no details of these events were heavily publicised by organisers.

How can it be, in 2018, that such events can be left to fall under the radar and forced to rely on word of mouth?

I really hope all the schools holding these events have one final community open morning this month for people such as me, who missed the original date due to poor publicity. I’m sure I’m not the only one who missed one of these events because of it.

Steven Welsh.
