Awards staged in Perth
PERTH Theatre has scored a top industry award for one of its latest productions. The Edwardian venue, regenerated last year after a £16.6 million upgrade, hosted the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland (Cats).
Jessica Hardwick took the Best Female Performance title for her role in Knives in Hens. The drama was seen as a statement of i ntent for Perth Theatre when it reopened after four years.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre also won when Peter Arnott’s Monarch of the Glen was named Best New Play.
The biggest winner was Rhinoceros, a new version of a classic play t hat responds to the rise of fascism in Europe. It won four Cats – Best Production, Best Director, Best Male Performance and Best Music and Sound.
Space Ape was Best Production for Children.
