Amazing perspective of new V&A museum

AMAZING new images of Dundee’s V&A have been revealed – less than three months from its opening.

Captured from new angles, the images show never-before-seen views of the £80 million building created by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

One aerial shot by Rising View drone pilot Dale Summerton shows what the completed V&A looks from above with new gardens and signs all clearly visible.

Dale said: “These aerial views show that the V&A is looking great with new gardens and signage since my last visit.

“The exterior seems to be complete and I can’t wait until September to have a look inside.”

The picture is one of the first to show how the museum looks in situ on the banks of the Tay and how it fits in with surrounding landmarks such as RSS Discovery.

Further incredible images have been taken by River Tay boat tours company, Pirate Boats.

The company has taken photos of the building from the water.

Some clearly demonstrate Mr Kuma’s desire for the museum to replicate the cliffs at Arbroath, which were one of his design inspirations.

Another of its photographs looks directly at the front of the museum, capturing how much like the prow of a ship it is from that angle.

Other closeup views show the scale and size of the building.

Ian Ashton, of Pirate Boats, said trips out on to the Tay to view the V&A were proving to be popular.

He said: “We are getting bookings from people from all over the world who are keen to see the museum from the water.

“It’s proving very good for business which is great.

“So far I’ve taken bookings from people from as far afield as Abu Dhabi and China.

“There are also a l ot of Europeans coming on trips.

“As it gets closer to the opening, more people will be wanting trips to see the museum from the water.”
