Skinner making bow in British

-

BRITISH Talent Cup motor cycle racer Rory Skinner is set to make his British Championship debut next month.

The 16-year-old Perth High School pupil will make a wild-card appearance in the BSB Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship at Knockhill from July 6-8.

He will be on board a Kawasaki ZX-6R supplied by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki and is backed by long-term sponsors Bennetts and Tokheim.

Skinner has had several successful outings on the Kawasaki in Scottish Championship races.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting out on the 600 and racing in front of my home fans.

“Being part of the British Talent Cup is a great opportunity but, with only six race weekends, it is important to get some more meetings under my belt, especially as there are over two months to the next round.

“I rode the Kawasaki at the Scottish meeting at Knockhill in April and was able to put in very competitive times and win three races.

“We’ve since upgraded the bike to Superstock specification and, at East Fortune, I was able to take another win and go under the lap record.

“I’ve really clicked with the bike, as well as the Pirelli tyres.

“It’s brilliant to be racing at Knockhill again.

“It’s my local circuit and everybody there has been so helpful to me throughout my career.

“I’m confident I can put on a good show on my National Superstock 600 debut.”

Although initially a one-off outing at Knockhill, Skinner may look at competing in additional races, as long as they do not conflict with British Talent Cup races.

“I’m taking it one race at a time and the British Talent Cup is my main event,” he went on.
