Two more Tannadice additions are confirmed

-

DUNDEE United have confirmed the signing of Austrian midfielder Christoph Rabitsch.

While the club had refused to comment, on Monday the 22-year-old had himself revealed he was heading to Scotland to sign up on a two-year deal at Tannadice.

He arrived yesterday and last night completed his switch.

“I am delighted to bring Christoph to Dundee United. He is a central midfielder who is always hungry for the ball, has lots of energy, good awareness and can pass. He is also very ambitious and comes here with the mental strength required this season,” said boss Csaba Laszlo.

Also joining up in something of a surprise move is veteran goalkeeper Neil Alexander, who’s been appointed the club’s goalkeeping coach following the departure of Stuart Garden at the end of last month.

The 40-year-old was in goal as Livingston dumped United from the Premiership play-offs on their way to a surprise top-flight return but has decided to end his playing career to take up this opportunity.

“I feel the time is right to give up playing and I am delighted to become the goalkeeping coach at a club with the stature of Dundee United. It is an exciting time for me in my career, and I am looking forward to getting going,” said the former Rangers and Hearts goalie.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a player and I now want to use all my experience to help Dundee United achieve promotion.”

Boss Csaba said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Neil to my backroom team. Giving up playing is a big step for him but when I became aware of his availability as a coach, I reacted quickly.”
