New bikes for lucky youngsters
TWO youngsters were presented with new bikes as part of a Police Scotlandbacked safety scheme.
Jake Hamilton, from North Muirton Primary, and Shannon Lyon, from Fossaway Primary, were given their prizes for their role in the SafeTaysiders programme.
SafeTaysiders is an annual event organised by the community safety partnership which took place at the Queens Barracks in Perth.
It was attended by 1,500 senior primary pupils from nearly every area of Perth and Kinross.
Liberal Democrat councillor Pete Barrett and Chief Inspector Ian Scott presented the prizes to Jake and Shannon during a ceremony at the council’s High Street HQ. They were joined by representatives from Halfords, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and t he Safer Communities Team.
Mr Barrett said: “SafeTaysiders covers online and social media safety, water safety, CPR technique, gas, electric and fire safety and more. The kids have a great time.”
