The family event, which takes place every year at Baxter Park, is back and bigger than before with fun rides, stalls and plenty of places to eat and drink.

Organised by Stobswell Forum’s events group, the day is supported by Dundee City Council.

The Dundee Motor Show will be returning with more than 200 vintage vehicles as well as its popular truck section. Also returning are the birds of prey.

To keep the youngsters entertained the funfair has expanded and will include a funhouse, carousel, bungee trampolines, inflatable slides, a disco dome and a play area.

New for this year will be a collaboration with Dundee University, the Science Centre and the DCA, along with the International Women’s Centre who will be providing some hands-on science and art for all ages at the ranger building.

Kicking off the festivities will be the marching pipe bands followed by live music from Brooke Coventry, Wayne O’Hare and Jimmy Smart, The Graham Brown Band and the Mnemonics.

Food will be on offer courtesy of Wood Fired Pizzas and Big Winny’s Munch Box Truck, and there are plenty of drinks options including The Aloha Ice Bar, Cairn o’ Mohr’s Ciders, Wines and Beers and the Unique Pink Sandy Mocktails.

Celebration in the Park will take place on Sunday August 12 from noon-4pm and entrance is free.

Elizabeth Crighton, chairwoman of the Stobswell Forum events group, said: “We are very excited and looking forward to the event. We hope it’s going to be a lovely, sunny and warm day.

“It is going to be bigger all over. We have attracted many more stalls, more traders, more food providers. It’s offering a wider range of everything, more diversity to cater for all ages.”
