DUNDEE have sent their best wishes to club l egend Alan Gilzean (above) after it was revealed he has a brain tumour.
It emerged over the weekend the 79-year-old has been receiving treatment for the condition.
Gilzean was t he star of the Dark Blues 1961/62 championship-winning team, scoring 24 goals in 29 league appearances in that campaign.
The following season his goals were instrumental in Bob Shankly’s team reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup. He also appeared in the 1964 Scottish Cup Final before a move south to Spurs.
Gilzean spent a decade at White Hart Lane, forming a prolific strike partnership with the great Jimmy Greaves. He scored 12 goals in 22 Scotland appearances and is considered one of the best centre forwards this country’s produced. His family has asked for privacy.
