DUNDEE have sent their best wishes to club l egend Alan Gilzean (above) after it was revealed he has a brain tumour.

It emerged over the weekend the 79-year-old has been receiving treatment for the condition.

Gilzean was t he star of the Dark Blues 1961/62 championsh­ip-winning team, scoring 24 goals in 29 league appearance­s in that campaign.

The following season his goals were instrument­al in Bob Shankly’s team reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup. He also appeared in the 1964 Scottish Cup Final before a move south to Spurs.

Gilzean spent a decade at White Hart Lane, forming a prolific strike partnershi­p with the great Jimmy Greaves. He scored 12 goals in 22 Scotland appearance­s and is considered one of the best centre forwards this country’s produced. His family has asked for privacy.
