Vandalism response ‘amazing’

-

A COMMUNITY has rallied together after a number of planters were vandalised.

The planters that line Brook Street in the centre of Broughty Ferry were vandalised at the weekend and the plants were thrown over the road.

Joan Chalmers, secretary of Broughty Ferry In Bloom, said: “It is not as bad as we first feared.

“There are plants which have been pulled out and thrown on the road.

“We have had so many offers of help.

“Some people have offered us plants and others have offered money.

“Everybody has just rallied round. It has been superb.

“The response we have had is just amazing – so good to see.”

Joan said lots of local businesses and organisations had got in touch to offer their help.

The vandalism happened as the community gears up for gala week, which will take place from July 1-8.

Events kick off on Sunday with the traditional gala day.
